Hamden Police Investigate Armed Street Robbery

Hamden Police are asking for the public's help in identifying a suspect who allegedly robbed and threatened to shoot an individual on Monday evening.

Officers responded to a report of an armed street robbery near Circular Avenue and Gorham Avenue at around 5:30 p.m., according to Hamden Police Captain Ronald Smith.

The victim told police that he had stopped his vehicle on Gorham Avenue to talk to friends when he was approaced by a man dressed in black clothing armed with a handgun. The victim claimed that the suspect demanded his belongings. After stealing several hundred dollars, the suspect fled the area according to the victim.

Police said the victim described the suspect as a man in his mid-20s, standing at around 6-foot-2 and weighing somewhere between 300 and 400 pounds.

The incident is currently under investigation.
