Convicted Felon Runs From Police, Arrested on Drug, Weapons Charges

Hartford police have re-arrested the suspect in a 2009 armed robbery after he ran from officers, threw down a handgun and was found in possession of several bags of heroin, authorities said.

According to police, Major Crimes Division detectives pulled over a suspicious car around 12:30 p.m. Wednesday. While detectives were stopping the car, 21-year-old Antoine Keaton jumped out of the back seat and ran from the scene, throwing down a black handgun while he ran.

Keaton led police on a foot chase and was caught in the area of Morgan Street and Main Street. Police recovered Keaton’s 9mm Kel-Tec semi-automatic, which was found to contain five rounds of ammunition, and nine bags of heroin packaged for sale.

Keaton was charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a pistol, possession of narcotics, possession of narcotics within 1500 feet of a school and interfering with police.

In 2010, Keaton was found guilty of first-degree robbery with a firearm threat, a felony, in connection with the 2009 incident.

He was also found guilty of criminal trespassing in 2012.
