Hartford Deputy Fire Chief Reinstated

Hartford Deputy Fire Chief James McLoughlin was reinstated after he was placed on administrative leave in early December.

Hartford Fire Lt. Raul Ortiz, executive officer for external affairs, said Wednesday that McLoughlin "has been put back on full active duty effective immediately."

The city previously declined to comment on the reasoning behind McLoughlin's suspension, which sources said took effect Dec. 10.

McLoughlin was placed on leave close to when Hartford Mayor Pedro Segarra announced the creation of a task force to develop a new code of conduct, review resources and protocol and handle the investigation into the line-of-duty death of Firefighter Kevin Bell.
