Over the last three years, the gun buyback program has taken 285 firearms off the streets, according to the Community Renewal Team.
On Saturday, another the 4th annual gun buyback will be held from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the CRT offices, located at 555 Windsor St., in Hartford.
Connecticut residents who have an unwanted firearm in their home can have it safely removed with no questions asked. They will receive $25 gift card for rifles or shotguns and $75 for handguns or assault weapons.
All guns must be brought in unloaded and wrapped in a bag.
Of the 118 firearms collected in 2011, 75 percent were handguns.
