Police have identified a teenage boy shot and killed in the North End of Hartford on Tuesday night, marking the city's 10th homicide and the third shooting death in four days.
Police said Mariano Gonzalez III, 17, of Fairmont Street, Hartford, was sitting in a two-door white Honda near 124 Irving St. when he was shot just before 9 p.m. on Tuesday. Police found him in the driver's seat of the car with a gunshot wound to the head.
An ambulance brought him to Saint Francis Hospital, where he was in critical condition with several "extremely life-threatening" gunshot wounds, but he has since died of those injuries and police are investigating his death as a homicide. He was pronounced dead at 4:16 a.m.
According to Hartford Police Deputy Chief Brian Foley, ShotSpotter technology detected 17 gunshots near 121 Irving Street.
Neighbors said they heard a "spray of bullets."
Now, police are searching for the person who shot the teen and asking anyone with information on the crime to contact Sgt. Reggie Early at 860-757-4248 or leave an anonymous tip online through the police website
"Community involvement is important in all aspects of our police work. I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. We don’t solve a single homicide without someone from the community coming forward and helping us," Foley said.

Police have not identified any suspects and the Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes Division is investigating.
Members of the community, including Rev. Henry Brown and Mothers United Against Violence, are calling for solutions before something like this happens again.
He said it's time to come together and end the violence.
