Hartford police have captured a fugitive and registered sex offender from Pennsylvania accused of kidnapping his daughter.

On Sept. 24, Hartford police began an extensive search for Victor Laboy after police in Bensalem, Pennsylvania contacted local authorities to tell them that he was wanted in connection with the kidnapping of his daughter and might be in the Hartford area.

With assistance from the FBI, Hartford police found Laboy, also known as Luis Chaverez, and his daughter around 1 p.m. at 107 Van Block Avenue, police said.

Laboy was taken into custody and his daughter was transferred to State Department of Children and Families to be brought back to Pennsylvania.

Hartford police charged Laboy as a fugitive from justice and are holding him on a $1 million bond, pending extradition back to Pennsylvania, where he faces kidnapping and other charges.
