Vail he’d been shot six times in the head, neck, chest, back and shoulder, police said.

As officers investigated, they identified a suspect known as "Debo," and determined that Walton is the same person, according to a news release from police.

Police obtained a warrant for him and apprehended Walton on Thursday.

He has been charged with carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal attempted murder and first-degree assault.

Walton appeared in court, where bond was set at $2 million. He is due back in court on Aug. 12.

Walton's step-father was at court on Friday and spoke with NBC Connecticut outside the courthouse.

“Deshawn is a good kid, great kid, fantastic. I love him to death,” Jerry Nelson said.

Police said further arrests are expected.

Gov. Dannel Malloy recently promised that Hartford police officers would be receiving help from state troopers to deal with the surge in violence.
