Hartford Teen Arrested After Father Tells Police That Boy Has Gun

Police arrested a 17-year-old Hartford boy after his father reported to police that he had a gun, police said.

Hartford Police Department's shooting task force responded to 139 Adams Street at 12:45 a.m. on Sunday after receiving a complaint about an illegal firearm. A father answered the door and told police that his teenage son was carrying a gun and fleeing out the back door.

Police apprehended the boy as he ran out the back door and seized a Taurus 9-millimeter semi-automatic pistol from the house, police said.

The identity of the boy has not been released because he is a juvenile.

Police issued the boy a juvenile summons on charges of interfering with a police investigation and possession of a high-capacity magazine, a 15-round magazine with 12 live 9-millimeter ammunition rounds, police said.
