Speak up, offer a good solution and you win a trip to play golf or to a spa.
Giving up some town services could turn into a mini-spa day for one West Hartford resident and a day on the golf course for another. But first, they have to make some decisions on which services the town should cut back on or eliminate.
Towns across the state are having money problems, and West Hartford is no exception.
Now, the West Hartford Taxpayers Association is working with town staff, businesses and taxpayers to find areas where cuts can be made, and that includes a contest to generate cost-saving ideas.
Local businesses have pitched in help make this a success and are offering prizes, including a round of golf for four at Tower Ridge Country Club, a $100 gift certificate at Daswani Clothiers, a haircut and blow dry at Oggi Hair Salon and a pedicure at Nail Pro.
All suggestions will be considered and sent to the town council or board of education to consider to bring budget expenses down for next year, according to the association.
The contest award winners will be announced on Feb 15.
