Home Caretaker Accused of Stealing from Couple



    Madison police have arrested an in-home caretaker accused of stealing several hundred thousand dollars from a Madison couple she was hired to provide care for. 

    Police arrested Linda Correira, 52, of  Milford, on Thursday, after a nearly year-long investigation into unauthorized withdrawals from multiple bank accounts belonging to an elderly Madison couple between July 2011 through December 2011. 

    Police said the missing funds include some service fees, as well as unauthorized withdrawals. 

    Police said Correira has been charged with larcenies and other crimes in Milford, Torrington, Winchester, Manchester, Stratford and Fairfield. 

    Correira was unable to post her $75,000 bond and appeared at court on New Haven on Dec. 7.

    Correira was charged with larceny in the first degree.
