Homicide in West Haven

West Haven police are investigating a homicide.

West Haven police are investigating a homicide in the West Haven Housing Authority complex on Glade Street.

During the early morning hours on Monday, before Hurricane Sandy, West Haven Police responded to a report of gunshots followed by a motor-vehicle accident. 

Police found a vehicle pinned against a utility pole. The driver was unconscious inside the car, police said.

The driver was identified as Neville Malacai Registe, 27.

He was immediately transported to the hospital with life-threatening injuries from a gunshot and succumbed to those injuries as a result of a gunshot wound. 

Police ask anyone with information about the shooting to call Detectives Faughnan or Fazzino of the Detective Bureau at 203-937-3905 or text an anonymous tip to 847-411.
