Quill, Scarlet or Snowball can be yours. We’re talking about horses that are going on the auction block at the Horsebarn Hill Arena at the University of Connecticut on Saturday.

The State Department of Agriculture is looking for news homes for 16 horses and a mule. Most of the animals have been rescued and rehabilitated.

The staff at UConn’s Department of Animal Science has been working hard to make sure these animals are healthy and ready to be homes.

One horse named Quill, is 20-year-old. The Bay Thoroughbred mare played many years of good polo, while 2-year-old Scarlet is a Chestnut Quarter Horse filly. She’s described as cute as a button and is great with other horses and goats. Snowball is a 4-year-old Miniature gelding, just 36-inches tall. He plays with other animals and enjoys cookies.

You can preview the horses beginning at 11 a.m. on Saturday and the auction starts at 1 p.m.

The money raised on Saturday goes right back into the rehabilitation program. New this year, buyers can now use Mastercard or Visa to purchase an animal, instead of just cash.
