A hot air balloon landed unexpectedly in a Wallingford neighborhood Monday evening, and police are heading to the scene to investigate.
Neighbors said the balloon sank to the ground on Pierson Drive in Wallingford around 7:30 p.m. Monday, and a car driving by followed the balloon until it was close enough for someone to throw down a tether.
The driver got out and helped guide the balloon to the ground.
Witnesses said the couple riding in the balloon were celebrating their first anniversary.
No one was injured.
