Hyatt Hotel Cook Threatens to Kill Colleagues: Police

A cook at the Hyatt hotel in Greenwich is facing charges after reportedly threatening to punch and fatally shoot fellow employees, according to police.

Jorge Mateus, 57, of Mamaroneck, New York, was arrested June 28 at the Hyatt on East Putnam Avenue in Greenwich after he “stated to multiple employees that he wanted to physically hurt them by punching them and that he would kill them using a gun,” police said.

Mateus was charged with disorderly conduct and threatening. He was released after posting cash bond and is due in court July 7.

The Hyatt had no comment on the arrest or Mateus’ employment status.
