Several cars were burned in a fire on Interstate 91.

Two lanes of Interstate 91 North are open in Hartford in the area of exit 27 after a fire involving a tractor-trailer with a car carrier.

The fire started around 10 a.m. and traffic was backed up for miles to Wethersfield. The flames are now out, but traffic remains backed up for hours.

A photo that the Hartford Fire Department posted on its Facebook page shows quite a bit of damage.

State police said the cars on the carrier were old and were heading for auction.
