2 Seriously Injured in Crash on I-95 in East Haven

Two people were seriously injured in an accident on Interstate 95 north in East Haven Saturday.

Police said the accident happened around 3:30 p.m. near exit 52. Police say a Jeep Grand Cherokee Laredo was pulled over in the center median disabled. The driver, identified as Robert Lynch, 38, of New Haven, got out of the Jeep to try to fix the issue. Police said a Honda Accord traveling “at a high rate of speed” in the center median rear-ended of the Jeep. The force of the crash sent Lynch flying over the concrete barrier dividing the highway into the southbound lanes.

Lynch was transported to Yale-New Haven Hospital with serious injuries. His passenger, Ericka Beth Barone, 40, of North Branford, was also taken to the hospital for treatment of minor injuries.

The driver of the Honda, Jefferey Lamont Brown, 41, was also taken to Yale-New Haven with suspected serious injuries.

State police continue to investigate the crash. This was one of several accidents that occurred in the area Saturday afternoon.
