Freezing Rain Delayed Some Schools

More rain is on the way.

Schools opened late in Litchfield and Regional School District 6 because of freezing rain this morning and more rain is on the way.

Today is the first day of meteorological winter and it feels like it, with temperatures near freezing on Tuesday morning.

Showers swept in early, meaning spotty icing in parts of the state, expecially the hills of interior western Connecticut.

Periods of cold rain and drizzle will follow on Tuesday into the evening and again on Wednesday, but the rain is much-needed as much of the state is still in a moderate drought.

Highs on Tuesday will range from the upper 40s on the shoreline to upper 30s in the interior.
