Image of Norwalk Supermarket Shooting Suspect Released

Investigators hope the blurry image may help someone recognize the suspect.

Police have released a blurry surveillance image of the man suspected of shooting a 50-year-old woman in the parking lot of the Stop & Shop on Connecticut Avenue in Norwalk on Wednesday.

The woman, from Greenwich, had dropped her 15-year-old son off at a bowling alley and was in the plaza to go shopping, police said. The woman's name has not been released.

She parked her car in the back of the parking lot and under some trees to keep her Golden Labradoodle in the shade, according to police. The car was isolated and away from other vehicles in the parking lot and the shooter approached the victim as she was getting into her car.

The suspect reached into the car and stole something, police said. It was unclear if the woman was shot during a struggle with the suspect. The man took off on foot, police said.

Investigators are asking anyone who may recognize the man in the blurry picture, or who may have seen anything suspicious in the plaza Wednesday, to call the detective bureau at 203-854-3011.
