Storm Causes Flight Delays, Cancellations at Bradley Airport

Two dozen flights in and out of Bradley International Airport have been canceled this evening as winter weather continues to pummel the state on what is typically the busiest travel day of the year.

About 3.5 million people are expected to fly between now and Sunday, about 17,000 of which will be traveling through Bradley.

A few flights to Denver and Baltimore have already been pushed back and six flights scheduled for later in the day are canceled.

"They said they’ll let us know if there was gonna be a delay or anything so we called back the next day and they said our flight was pushed to Saturday and we said whats the sense in going Saturday so we ended up calling and booking a flight for tonight, so we got a little bit of sleep," Eddie Connor, of Bridgeport, said.

Many people scrambled to book an earlier flight in light of the snow forecast to make sure they make it to their destination in time for Thanksgiving dinner.

"Well, we were supposed to leave at 1:14 we changed our flight to the 5:15 flight and we’re exhausted," Michael Piscatelli said.

If you are flying from JFK, Newark or LaGuardia, you can sign up to receive Airport Info-Alerts.

Several airlines were waiving re-booking fees in light of the storm so that passengers changing their tickets didn't get charged.

Check the status of your flight with your airline before you head to the airport and leave extra time for the long security lines even if your flight is on time.
