The City of New Haven is revamping a dangerous intersection that people in the city’s Westville section have been complaining about for years.

The intersection links Fountain and Ramsdell Streets with Lawncrest Road. It includes streetlights, stop signs, a bus stop and a misplaced island, according to neighbors.

“When I was at the light, somebody was from out of town, had a New York plate, he went down another street, because actually it’s two ways coming back toward this way, said William Booker. "There are two streets, but one’s for the bus. Nobody knows that, so I did see someone go the wrong way while I was sitting at the light the other day."

Improvement work is already underway, and parts of the sidewalk are closed.

City Engineer Dick Miller says the improvement work will include new sidewalks, lights and a new center island, according to the New Haven Register.
