Jailed Hartford Man Charged in Second Recent Shooting

A Hartford man behind bars on an attempted murder charge from earlier this month has been arrested in connection with a second shooting.

Deshawn Walton, 20, of Hartford, was already incarcerated on charges of serious assault with a firearm and attempted murder in connection with a shooting at 2006 Main Street on July 18 when police charged him in an earlier shooting that happened April 29.

Dalton is accused of shooting a 26-year-old woman in the neck and face in the area of 697 Windsor Street in Hartford around 6:30 p.m. April 29 while opening fire at a group of men on the sidewalk. Police said the woman who was shot had not been involved.

The woman was taken to Saint Francis Hospital, where she was listed in critical condition. Police said she is still suffering from serious injuries.

Hartford police found four shell casings in front of the Windsor Street property.

Detectives identified someone named "Debo" as the suspect and later learned "Debo" was a nickname for Walton. Police obtained an arrest warrant for Walton on Monday.

Police charged Walton with first-degree assault, carrying a pistol without a permit, criminal possession of a firearm and first-degree reckless endangerment.

He was already incarcerated for the July shooting. The court set Walton's bond at $1.5 million.
