4 Injured, Power Out After Somers Crash

Police, fire officials and a LifeStar helicopter are responding to a two-car crash on Parker Road at Route 83 in Somers.

The crash happened around 9:40 p.m., according to police.

According to the Somers fire chief, one car crashed into a utility pole and the second car swerved to avoid it, then hit a tree.

One person was transported via LifeStar for treatment . Two were taken via ambulance to Johnson Memorial Hospital, and one was taken by ambulance to Hartford Hospital for treatment of non-life threatening injuries. A fifth passenger refused treatment, according to the Somers fire chief.

A utility pole was damaged in the crash, leaving 68 Connecticut Light & Power customers without power. CL&P officials said they have crews working to fix the problem and expect to have power restored in the morning.

Fire officials from Somers and Ellington responded to the scene. The Enfield fire department was called but canceled.

An NBC Connecticut crew is heading to the scene.
