Police Capture Escaped Inmate

A female inmate escaped the facility early Sunday morning.

Police captured escaped inmate Lori Beyus about 12 hours after she fled from prison grounds, according to officials from the York Correctional Institution.

The 49-year-inmate escaped from prison grounds around 6:30 a.m. on Sunday and state police began searching for her.

According to Department of Corrections records, Beyus is currently serving a 51-month sentence for second-degree robbery. She was sentenced in Jan. 2013.

Beyus was found on the side of Interstate 95, in there area of North Bridebrook overpass, police said.

Police took her into custody at 6:15 p.m.

Beyus was the third inmate this year to escape from the all-female facility. 

On Jan. 5, two inmates escaped after time in the gym one Saturday night. The two women were found in Hartford the next day.
