A Connecticut inmate serving 56 years for felony murder has been sentenced to two more years in prison for slashing a deputy warden in the face with a sharpened toothbrush two years ago.
Kenyon Joseph, 38, pleaded no contest to an assault charge in New London Superior Court on Monday. His release date is now in 2060, when he would be 85.
Joseph said the attack on Deputy Warden Stephen Bates at the Corrigan-Radgowski Correctional Institution in Montville was part of an effort to get transferred to another prison after he was assaulted by two gang members. Joseph is now at Northern Correctional Institution in Somers.
Joseph was one of three men convicted in a 2001 triple shooting in Meriden that killed a man and injured two others.
