Janitor Had Gun in School: Cops

A loaded gun was found in a preschool classroom, police said.

A Waterbury school janitor has been arrested, accused of bringing a loaded gun to an elementary school.

Police charged Cody Willette, 25, of Woodbury, on Monday after two paraprofessionals found a loaded handgun inside a preschool classroom for 3- and 4-year-old children at Bucks Hills Elementary School in Waterbury, police said.

Willette is a member of the custodial staff, according to the school’s Web site.

He was charged with reckless endangerment and failing to properly store a firearm, according to court records.

Police said they were able to trace the gun registration back to Willette and no children were around when the gun was found.

Willette was released on a $10,000 bond and is due in court on Dec. 22.
