Jesus Statue Stolen from Monroe Religious Store

Someone stole the Jesus statue from a religious store in Monroe on Tuesday night and the shop owners just want it back.

The 5-foot Jesus statue was stolen from the Angels & Company religious store on Main Street on Tuesday night.

“I was in shock. How do you steal Jesus?,” Midge Saglimbene, one of the store owners, said.

She said the statue was visible from Route 25 and people love it.

“I just want my statue. I want Jesus back,” she said.

Saglimbene said they have notified police and do not know if it’s a prank.

Police said the $600 statue was taken between 6:45 p.m. on Tuesday and 9:30 a.m. on Wednesday.

Monroe police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious near the store during the timeframe the statue was taken or knows anything about the theft to call the department at 203-261-3622 or  call the tip-line at 203-452-2839.
