Judge: State Must Turn Over Videos to Skakel

Connecticut officials have lost a bid to withhold videotapes from lawyers trying to overturn Kennedy cousin Michael Skakel's murder conviction.

The three videotapes show a forensic psychiatrist's interview in 1993 with Kenneth Littleton, a former Skakel family tutor and one-time suspect in the 1976 killing of which Skakel was convicted in 2002. The psychiatrist suggested after the interview that Littleton was the "primary suspect" in the killing.

Judge Trial Referee Thomas Bishop on Monday rejected the state's request to withhold the videos from Skakel's lawyers in his latest appeal. Officials must turn over the recordings by Friday.

Skakel, a nephew of Ethel Kennedy, is serving 20 years to life in prison for the killing of Martha Moxley in Greenwich in 1976 when they were both 15 years old.
