Kardashian Effect Strikes in Mystic
More people seem to be interested in Mystic after the Kardashians filmed a show here.
Whether you love them or roll your eyes just at the sound of the name “Kardashian,” you’ve probably heard of the Kardashian Effect.
It seems to have struck in Mystic.
Kim, Kourtney and little Mason were filming their show in Mystic in September.
The Eastern Connecticut Regional Tourism District has seen a dramatic increase in phone calls and e-mails.
Last year at this time, the tourism district received about 500 phone calls and e-mails.
Now it is receiving thousands, and that interest could not come at a better time.
“As we come into February, families are looking at where they are going to go this summer when schools out … and they start pulling things together, so it's an ideal time for us,” Ed Dombroskas, the director of the district said.
It’s not surprising that men are showing a lot of interest.
Dombroskas said the number of inquiries coming from men has nearly doubled.
