Police ID Motorcyclist Killed in Multi-Vehicle Crash on I-84 in Cheshire

A Middletown man was killed in a crash on Interstate 84 in Cheshire Tuesday afternoon.

The crash happened in the area of exit 27 on I-84 eastbound at approximately 4:45 p.m.

Connecticut State Police said Charles Tuscano, 62, was riding a motorcycle in the right lane behind a Ford F150 when the accident occurred. According to police, traffic was heavy because of a multi-car crash ahead. Investigators said that Tuscano was trying to stop for traffic on the wet road when he veered left and hit the side of the F150. Tuscano sustained life-threatening injuries and was later pronounced dead.

Four other people were transported to local hospitals with non-life threatening injuries from the other crash. The driver of the F150 was not injured.

The highway was closed but reopened several hours later at 9:15 p.m.

An investigation is underway.
