A 12-year-old girl was injured while skiing at Mohawk Mountain in Cornwall Wednesday evening.

The girl was skiing on a wide slope when she was injured, according to Mohawk Mountain president Carol Lugar. Emergency workers were stabilizing the victim on the mountain, Lugar said.

A LifeStar helicopter was called to transport the girl to the hospital, according to a Litchfield County dispatcher.

The extent of the girl's injuries were not known, but Lugar said she believed the girl would be okay.
