Westbrook Man Killed in Old Lyme Crash

A Westbrook man was killed when a pickup truck struck the motorcycle he was driving Saturday.

State police say 73-year-old Wells Lippincott was driving his motorcycle south on Route 1 in Old Lyme around 3:49 p.m. when the pickup, driven by 27-year-old Alex Swaney of Old Lyme, attempted to turn left into a private driveway. The truck struck the motorcycle and Lippincott was ejected off the bike, according to police.

Lippincott was transported by Life Star to Hartford Hospital where he died from his injuries.

Route 1 was closed for several hours Saturday as a result of the crash. The accident is still under investigation and no charges have been filed.
