Somers Man Killed in Ellington Crash

LifeStar medical transport helicopter responded to a crash in front of 516 Somers Road in Ellington.

A 33-year-old Somers man was killed in a crash in front of 516 Somers Road in Ellington on Monday.

Police said Matthew Thorne was driving north on Somers Road, which is also known as Route 83, around noontime when he hit the guardrail and went off the road and down an embankment. 

Thorne was in the only one in the car.

LifeStar medical helicopter transported him to St. Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
