1 Dead After Willington Crash

The victim was airlifted to Hartford Hospital.

    A driver died after crashing in Willington on Friday night and being airlifted to the hospital with serious injuries.

    Roger S. Schofield, 60, of Schoefield Road, Willington, was traveling westbound on Kucko Road when he lost control on a left curve and crashed into a tree and stone wall on the left shoulder of the road just west of Village Hill  Road in Willington, according to State Police.

    The crash was reported around 8 p.m. Friday. State Police said the victim suffered extensive injuries and was unconscious at the scene.

    LifeStar sent a medical helicopter, which landed on a baseball field at Village Hill and River roads and took Schoefield to Hartford Hospital, Tolland County Dispatch said. Medical personnel pronounced him dead at the hospital.

    State troopers also responded to the crash.

    State Police at Troop C are investigating the crash and anyone with information is asked to contact Trooper Laird at 860-896-3200, ext. 8017.
