As proud Partners in a Caring Community, NBC Connecticut and Radiology Associates, along with Saint Francis Hospital hosted a day promoting breast health and education.
Free mammograms were offered to women at RAH in Glastonbury on Wednesday. Seventy women took advantage of the service.
In addition to the screenings, Dr. Amy Martin, a Breast Imaging Specialist with RAH, answered questions about mammography.
Kim Johnson, Outreach Educator for the Breast Center at Saint Francis Hospital spoke with men and women about what they should know about breast cancer.
Johnson says at the age of 20 women and men should begin giving themselves self-examinations.
Connecticut has the second highest incident of breast cancer in the country.
The American Cancer Society recommends women get a mammogram every year starting at the age of 40.
