Westport police have arrested a man accused of charges hundreds of dollars on stolen credit cards.
Police say they responded to the Connecticut Humane Society at 455 Post Road East around 2:30 p.m. on Saturday for a report of a stolen credit card.
According to police, the suspect, later identified as Dead Henton, 47, of Waterbury, entered the Humane Society through a back door and stole four credit cards out of a purse. Henton then used the cards at Cumberland Farms, Walgreens and Subway locations in Westport.
Police were able to track Henton with the help of the credit card company, and obtained a description with the help of store employees.
Henton was located in the area of 1060 Post Road East carrying a backpack with receipts that matched the stolen credit cards. Police say he spent around $750.00.
Henton was arrested and charged with criminal trespass, four counts of credit card theft, four counts of illegal use of a credit card, fifth-degree larceny, criminal attempt at illegal use of a credit card, and violation of probation. He is being held on a $20,000 bond and is expected in Norwalk Superior Court Oct. 7.
Henton was also processed for a separate violation of probation charge from an outstanding New Haven arrest warrant. He was issued a $25,000 bond and is scheduled to appear at New Haven Superior Court on Oct. 8.
