Police arrested a Shelton man last Wednesday, charging him with the theft of several boxes of condoms from a Stop & Shop supermarket in Monroe.

Jose Bulerin, 48, was arrested on a warrant, accused of stealing about $110 worth of Trojan condoms from the Stop & Shop on Monroe Turnpike on Aug. 6.

He was charged with three accounts of sixth-degree larceny and was held on $1,000 bond. He appeared in court on Oct. 31.

A Stop & Shop self-service checkout supervisor told police that she saw a tall, bald man and a female in her 20s with dark hair scan two items at checkout, which came to a total of $6.75.

The supervisor also told police she saw a large backpack in the shoppers’ cart.

According to police, Stop & Shop Loss Prevention watched surveillance video showing Bulerin had stolen 11 boxes of Trojan condoms, which were valued at $9.99 each.
