Shelton police have arrested a man after a domestic incident, Tuesday afternoon that involved a SWAT team and hostage negotiators.

Bryan Gagnon, 34, fired at least two shots after he burst into his estranged wife's Buddington Road home, according to police. The 911 call came at about noon, reporting the shots, police said.

SWAT team surrounded the home. Hostage negotiators, a canine unit, and EMS and State Police also responded.

Gagnon's estranged wife and another victim were able to escape unharmed, police said, and Gagnon surrendered about two hours later and was arrested on burglary charges.

Police evacuated a few homes on Freedom Way and United Place, as a precaution, until the standoff was over. Police said they expect to file more charges.
