Man Badly Injured in Willimantic Crash

A man was badly injured when he hit a utility pole in Willimantic on Wednesday night.

Police said they responded to Jackson Street, near the intersection of Prospect Street, around 7:30 p.m. after the driver of a Chevrolet sedan hit a wooden Eversource utility pole.

Willimantic Fire/Rescue pulled the driver from the car and an ambulance brought him to the emergency room at Windham Hospital, but LifeStar flew him to Hartford Hospital almost immediately.

Police have not released the man’s name, but said he is in serious condition.

The road was closed until 12:25 a.m. on Thursday.

The Willimantic Police Department Accident Reconstruction Team is investigating and they ask anyone who saw the crash to call Officer Matthew Nixon at the Willimantic Police Department. Main Desk is (860) 465-3135.
