A 23-year-old Bridgeport man was arrested Thursday on 137 counts of voyeurism after he was witnessed using a video camera to photograph underneath women’s skirts at the Westfield Trumbull mall.
Trumbull police arrested Erik Rio-Carranza of 80 Shelton Street after he was observed by a loss prevention employee in the Macy’s department store suspiciously lingering in the women’s intimates section and using the video recorder to aim underneath women’s skirts.
When police recovered the video recorder they found 172 individual recordings, some included the same women. Some of the recordings were taken at several other locations including the Milford Mall and Lake Compounce Amusement Park police said.
While booking Rio-Carranza, officers discovered he was a wanted individual and the name he initially gave police was an alias.
Along with voyeurism, Rio-Carranza was charged with breach of peace, forgery 2nd and interfering with an officer. He is scheduled to appear in court on Thursday.
