A 26-year-old man is charged with setting fire to his former Hamden home.

Police arrested Jamie Roldan Aug. 30. According to police, Roldan ignited a fire June 7 in the front stairwell of a three-family residence at 75 Beacon Street. Residents on the first and third floors were able to escape the building before it became engulfed in flames. One tenant suffered smoke inhalation and a firefighter suffered a minor burn in the fire.

Roldan, 26, lived on the second floor, but moved out of the home a few weeks before the fire, after becoming involved in a dispute with other residents living on the second floor, according to police.

An investigation led police to Roldan. He is charged with first-degree arson and first-degree criminal mischief. Roldan is being held on $500,000 bond.
