Man Charged in Crash That Killed Boy

A man has been charged with second-degree manslaughter in connection with the crash that killed an Enfield sixth grader.

Police said 11-year-old Nico Filippa died after being hit by a motorcycle while riding his bike on Broad Brook Road in September. His own mother, a LifeStar nurse, treated him at the scene, according to the arrest warrant for the suspected driver, Brian A. Dolloff, 29.

Dolloff turned himself in to police this morning.

He was charged with manslaughter in the second degree, operating under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol, traveling unreasonably fast and operating a motorcycle without a license. Police said he does have a regular driver's license.

Dolloff is being held on $50,000 bond and is due back in court on May 14.

People who were in court to support Dolloff declined comment.
