Man Charged in Navy Base Bank Robbery

A 28-year-old New London man has been charged in connection with a bank robbery at the Navy Federal Credit Union in New London last month.

Groton police responded to a report of an armed robbery at the Navy Federal Credit Union, at 24 Sailfish Drive in Groton just before 1 p.m. on Sept. 14 and found a suspect, Kevin Dew Jr., at 1:12 p.m. on the sub base, police said.

With assistance of the U.S. Navy Police and NCIS, Dew was taken into custody without incident and police seized U.S. currency and a semi-automatic pistol, police said.

Dew was charged with robbery in the first degree, larceny in the second degree, criminal possession of a firearm, criminal use of a firearm, possession of a pistol without a permit and possessing a weapon in a motor vehicle.

Police said the investigation continues into other people who might have been involved.
