A Brooklyn man drowned in a lake on Tuesday night.

A Brooklyn man was pronounced dead after drowning in the waters of Quaddick Lake in Thompson on Tuesday night.

The man has been identified as Michael A. Surrell, 34. He was pronounced dead at 6:45 p.m. at Day Kimball Hospital in Putnam.

The man entered the lake from private property and was seen struggling shortly after.

Bystanders pulled him from the water and local EMS administered CPR and transported the man to the hospital.

Officials from the Department of Energy and Environmental Protection are investigating.
