Man Found Dead at Plymouth Lake

A man has been found dead at Hancock Brook Lane in Plymouth, police confirmed Monday.

Authorities said the 29-year-old victim was reported missing from Waterbury after he went fishing Sunday and never returned. The man's car was spotted by Plymouth police overnight and they ran the plates, but at the time, he had not been reported missing.

Rescue teams responded to the lake and found the man's body. Police said the victim was found with fishing equipment and a kayak.

"Let somebody know. You shouldn’t come to a place like this by yourself. Especially speeding the evening here. Always have somebody with you," Chief Mark Sekorski with the Terryville Fire Department said.

Fire officials said conditions on the lake can make it difficult to maneuver and dangerous, particularly at night.

"The terrain here is very rough. The lake or the water flood control area is full of lily pads and weeds so we had a tough time with our boats getting there," Sekorski explained.

The body will go to the medical examiner to determine a cause of death.
