Hartford Police are investigating a homicide after finding a shooting victim inside a car that was on fire at 18 Monroe St., in the South End of Hartford, on Monday night.

Police responded to a report of a car fire at 10:04 p.m. on Monday and found a man, identified as Ricardo Arroyo, 35, of Wethersfield, inside the car.

They had to break a window to get him out. When EMTs began working on Arroyo, they discovered a gunshot wound in his head, officials said.

The man was taken to Hartford Hospital, where he was in critical condition. He died just before 6:30 a.m. on Tuesday, police said.
