Man Honored for Rescuing Girl from Somers Fire

A Stafford Springs, Connecticut man who rescued a 7-year-old girl from a burning apartment in Somers a year ago is being honored by the Pittsburgh-based Carnegie Heroes Fund Commission.

Frederick Levesque Jr., 52, is among 19 people awarded by the foundation with medals and cash.

Last year, fire officials did not identify Levesque by name, but said a man who was passing by noticed the fire, forced his way into the house and rescued the girl.
