A 23-year-old Glastonbury man is accused of leaving two young children home alone while trying to run from police who were trying to arrest him, police said.
Eric Oloughlin jumped out of a back window of his Sherman Road house when police showed up on Thursday to take him into custody on a violation of probation charge, leaving behind his 2-year-old and 4-year-old children, police said.
He also left behind a pipe used to smoke marijuana, police said.
The search for Oloughlin lasted for about 30 minutes.
He was arrested at 2:45 p.m. and charged with violating probation from a 2008 charge for sale of a controlled substance, police said.
He was also charged with two counts of risk of injury to a minor, interfering with a police officer, possession of marijuana and possession of drug paraphernalia.
Bond was set at $85,000 cash/surety and he is due in court on Aug. 3.
