The Fairfield Fire Department pulled a man from his partially submerged SUV Saturday afternoon after he drove off  the road and into a retaining wall on Route 59.

The victim, a 42-year-old Easton man, was driving north on Route 59 in the area of Brooklawn Parkway around 2:20 p.m. when the car went off the 7-foot retaining wall.  The front of the vehicle was submerged in 10 inches of water, while the rear was resting at the top of the wall.

Firefighters pulled the man from the vehicle and he was taken to St. Vincent's Medical Center in Bridgeport.

Brooklawn Parkway was closed four around two hours as crews removed the car from the water and contained some minor fluid leaks, according to fire officials.
