Man Robbed While Trying to Buy Cell Phone

A man who thought he was buying cell phones became the victim of an armed robbery in Hamden over the weekend and police have arrested three suspects.

The victim went to Fourth Street around 9:30 p.m. on Saturday to buy cell phones from someone he knows, but three men robbed him at gunpoint and took his wallet, cell phones and cash, police said.

Hamden Police received a report of a street robbery in the area of Dixwell Avenue and Woodin Street, responded and soon after found three suspects in the area of First Street. 

Hamden Police arrested Tyshone Stewart, 22, of Washington Avenue in New Haven; Corey Bell, 20, of Dixwell Avenue in New Haven; and Stephon Tillery, 20, of Third Street, Hamden. 

They were each charged with robbery in the first degree, conspiracy to commit robbery in the first degree, larceny in the second degree, brandishing a facsimile firearm and carrying a dangerous weapon. 

Stewart was held on $50,000 bond, while Tillery and Bell were held on $100,000 bonds. All three people are scheduled to appear in Meriden Superior Court on August 15.
