A Glastonbury Middle School was placed in lockdown on Tuesday morning as police investigated what turned out to be a man shooting at trees in woods.
This morning, two people told a school resource officer at Smith Middle School they’d seen a man carrying what appeared to be a green rifle.
Police started searching the woods behind the school where there is a public walkway and wooded trails and found William Lesci, 21, of Glastonbury, who had a Crossman BB gun.
He admitted that he was shooting at trees, police said.
Lesci was taken into custody and charged with second-degree breach of peace; carrying a weapon on school grounds; and weapons, carrying and sale.
Police said Smith Middle School was locked down state until the search was finished.
Bond for Lesci was set at $25,000.
